PRESIDENT MUSEVENI FLAGS OFF BUKASA SENTEMA KAKIRI ROAD WORKS

SUMMARY: President Yoweri Museveni has flagged off the construction of the Bukasa-Ssentema-Kakiri road in Wakiso District. Accompanied by the First Lady and Education Minister, Hon. Janet Museveni, the President presided over the road works flag-off ceremony at Bukasa Catholic Church in Busiro County yesterday. The 12.7km road, being built by the Chinese Company Chongqing International Construction Corporation (CICO) is expected to be completed within 18 months.

SUMMARY: Uganda’s renewed push towards industrialisation and global trade competitiveness has received major boost following the launch of the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority (UFZEPA).According to Trade Minister Francis Mwebesa, the new authority will be at the forefront of transforming Uganda into an export-driven economy capable of competing in regional and international markets.

GOVERNMENT REASSURES FARMERS AMID COFFEE PRICE DROPS

SUMMARY: The Government has reassured farmers over the recent drop in coffee prices, emphasising that it is not responsible for the decline. Senior presidential advisor on agribusiness and value addition, Dr. Hillary Emmanuel Musoke instead encouraged farmers to remain resilient, focus on quality and embrace cooperative farming as key drivers for transforming the agriculture sector.

GOVERNMENT SECURES UGX 29B FOR WATER PROJECT

SUMMARY: Government has secured $8.2m (UGX 29b) to enhance water supply in five districts located in the cattle corridor. The project, which is expected to start in May next year and end in July 2031, will be implemented in Mityana, Rakai, Kole, Pader and Kitgum districts. The project will promote sustainable and climate resilient land and water management by enhancing access to clean water and local-level climate adaptation, among others.
