KCCA SECURES UGX 1 TRILLION FOR ROADS, BRIDGES

SUMMARY: Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has signed a 250m Euros (Ugx 1.1 trillion) contract with COLAS Limited, a global construction firm, to upgrade 127.28 kilometres of roads and construct three modern pedestrian bridges across the City.

PRESIDENT MUSEVENI PROMISES TO UP PDM CASH FOR URBAN AREAS

SUMMARY: President Yoweri Museveni has announced plans to increase the funds disbursed to the urban areas under the Parish Development Model (PDM) because the potential beneficiaries are significantly higher than those in rural areas. Under the current framework, each parish receives sh100m annually, intended to support 100 households with Ugx lm each to enable them graduate to the money economy.

2400 PRIVATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS FACE CLOSURE OVER LICENSES

SUMMARY: A total of 2,476 private secondary schools are at risk of being closed after they were found to be operating illegally. The affected schools were unearthed after they registered on the Education Information Management System (EMIS), an online data system, but with no credentials with the Education Ministry.

SUMMARY: The Government has released its teacher recruitment plan for the 2025/2026 financial year, announcing the hiring of 4,000 additional secondary school teachers and support staff for public schools. The recruitment will begin in the first quarter of the financial year (July- September)
