Summary: President Yoweri Museveni has appealed to households in Busoga Sub-region to ensure that they have a source of income to help them fight poverty and create wealth.

GOVERNMENT ORDERS DELETION OF 4,000 FROM PAYROLL

Summary: The Government has ordered Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as district Local Govemments, to delete 4,148 civil servants off the January payroll. Under the Public Service system, deactivation from a payroll implies that you are not eligible to receive a salary. Once implemented, the Government is expected to save at least UGX 2.5b in monthly salaries. The affected staff include the 2,967 government employees from 163 MDAs who did not turn up for the second government validation and headcount of workers that was conducted last year.

URA ENFORCES TAX ON JOB CONTRACTS

Summary: The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has moved to enforce stamp duty law that requires employers to pay a uniform tax of UGX 15,000 per employment contract signed. An employment contract is a legal agreement between the employer and employee. It outlines information on pay and can be used to resolve disputes between the two parties.

The purpose of the visit is to identify key tourist attractions in Uganda to promote worldwide as Emirates Airlines prepares to celebrate its 25th anniversary of operations in Uganda.
